The Kvíabekkur project involves on one hand the restoration of an old front annex (Framhús) to a ruined turf house located in the Town gardens in the center of Húsavík, north Iceland. And on the other hand a reconstruction of the vanished turf house.

Originally built in the year 1891, the wooden part of the building, the “framhús” is a good example of the kind of extension that was commonly added to turf houses in the area.  The project is ongoing but ideas for a future use are amongs other artists or researchers residency, guesthouse or coffee shop.
